In 1576, Tsugaru Tamenobu, the daimyo of the Tsugaru clan was struck by the grandeur of Kashiwa's Tree as he made an inspection of his territory.
From that moment on, the Tsugaru area began to be developed into rice fields. Today, the Kashiwa area of Tsugaru City
is named after Kashiwa's Tree. The area surrounding the tree is currently a park.
