Oldest Apple Trees
Planted in 1878, three apple trees remain today, and the largest of these is 7.4 meters tall and has a trunk circumference of three meters. While the average apple tree lives only 30 years, these trees are over 100 years old, making them the oldest apple trees in Japan. Over 30 boxes of apples are harvested from each tree every year (over 600 kilograms)!
